Top prospect Zayne Parekh was called up from the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit, the team announced on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old defenceman starred for the Spirit over 61 games, compiling 33 goals and 74 assists for 107 points.
Parekh, of Nobleton, Ont., was selected ninth overall by Calgary in last year’s draft.
The Flames sit four points back of a wild-card spot in the Western Conference with 87 points in 77 games.
They return to the ice Wednesday for a road game against the Anaheim Ducks, when Parekh could make his NHL debut.
