Staley and her team are now on the verge of history. The three-time national champion has her squad back in the title game for the third time in the last four years. And fourth in the last eight. She is undefeated in national championship games at 3-0, but Staley doesn’t want to hear that. After the game, the coach tried to put it all in perspective with one game left. “Nothing that happened prior to here is going to help us on Sunday, nothing,” Staley said. “If it’s Uconn, it’s not going to help us. If it’s UCLA it’s not going to help us… “Saying that we’re undefeated in the national championship game, is not going to help. I wish it would help. I wish it would spot us 10 points because we’re undefeated. After last season’s national title, South Carolina made Staley the highest-paid women’s college basketball coach of all-time with an annual salary of $4 million. After taking down the Texas Longhorns 74-57, the Gamecocks head coach walked off the court with a simple two-word message.
