David Cronenberg’s Latest Movie Might Also Be His Most Personal — and It’s Not the Body Horror You May Expect

Although David Cronenberghas never explicitly made an autobiographical film, his vast filmography—which spans six decades—is undoubtedly personal. His movies, extending to his groundbreaking body horror thrillers and meditative crime dramas, are only distinctive because of their tight-knit relationship to his soul. The Shrouds is Cronenberg's recently released drama about grief, and connects to the dead, as well as the omnipresence of digital technology. The autobiographical components are right there on the surface, down to its lead, Vincent Cassel, being modeled after the Canadian director.
