“Ballerina” star Ana de Armas is reportedly tipped to join Tom Cruise in the undersea supernatural feature “Deeper” reports Deadline.
The project will see Cruise re-teaming with his “Edge of Tomorrow” and “American Made” director Doug Liman on the project.
Cruise and the actress have reportedly been photographed together recently, the pair said to be doing diving training required for the project.
The story follows an aquanaut who encounters a terrifying force while on a deep dive into a never-before-explored trench.
The project was originally set up at MGM back in 2016 with the likes of Bradley Cooper and Idris Elba attached as the lead at certain points.
Max Landis penned the original script, but Cruise’s cohort Christopher McQuarrie is reportedly involved with the script now and will likely do a major re-write.
This film is reportedly expensive, somewhere in the $200 million range, and is reportedly tipped to be Cruise’s next major blockbuster – this taking precedence over the space-set film he and Liman were also working on.
