A “Wiseguy” Movie Is In The Works

Over three decades after it aired its four-season run in the late 1980s, a film adaptation of the CBS mystery crime drama TV series “Wiseguy” is in the works.

Ken Wahl led the original series as Vinnie Terranova, a federal agent for the Organized Crime Bureau within the FBI who goes undercover as a mob enforcer. His mission? Bring down an Italian crime syndicate.

Wiseguy was partly serialized with story arcs spanning multiple episodes – some ran short, some long, each had a specific set of central characters who would appear over the course of multiple episodes.

The new film is expected to take place in the same universe as the original series, but follow a new protagonist in his late 20s to early 30s and someone they’re describing as a “blue-collar James Bond”.

At the moment, Wahl isn’t currently attached to the film, but his co-star and “Breaking Bad” alum Jonathan Banks is reportedly returning to reprise his role of FBI senior agent Frank McPike who supervised Vinnie in the original series.

Sophie Cassidy and Jeff Katz (“The Pope’s Exorcist”) will produce along with Tawnia McKiernan.
