One of Canada’s 4 Nations Face-Off stars is set to don the maple leaf yet again.
St. Louis Blues goalie Jordan Binnington was added to the Canadian roster for the world championship along with teammate Brayden Schenn on Thursday, Hockey Canada announced.
Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon also officially joined the squad.
Binnington, 31, played all four games for Canada at February’s 4 Nations, posting a .907 save percentage and 2.38 goals-against average.
His play especially stood out during overtime of the final against the U.S., when he stopped multiple chances before Connor McDavid potted the game-winner.
The Blues were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs in Game 7 of the first round against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday, freeing Binnington and Schenn to head to Europe for the annual tournament.
Schenn appeared in all 82 regular-season games with the Blues this season, recording 50 points (18 goals, 32 assists) in his second season as captain.
The 33-year-old represented Canada eight times previously, including most recently at the 2017 worlds.
MacKinnon returns to Canada after winning MVP of the 4 Nations Face-Off for his first worlds since 2017.
The tournament in Sweden and Denmark marks the final senior men’s international competition before NHL players return to the Olympics in Milan next winter.
