George Miller's prequel Furiosa failed to recapture the success of Mad Max: Fury Road. But maybe we were putting too much pressure on it.
Few films of the last five years have as strange of a legacy as Furiosa, George Miller's prequel to his long-running Mad Maxseries. Released in 2024, and met with critical acclaim, the cloud that hangs over the film has nothing to do with its quality, as it represents the apex of action filmmaking and immersive world-building. As the long-awaited follow-up to Mad Max: Fury Road, which was released nine years prior, Furiosa had massive shoes to fill.
