AO Racing’s Roxy and Rexy to appear at Air|Water show

Rexy and Roxy — AO Racing’s popular pair of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship contenders — will appear together for the first time in public this Saturday at the Air|Water show at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, Calif. This marks the first official event they will be displayed side-by-side, giving fans a rare chance to meet both the team’s GT3 contenders together.

Rexy – the team’s green T-Rex Porsche 911 GT3 Rawr – is getting a breather for the next IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, as stablemate Roxy, muscles her way back into series competition. In the meantime, Rexy will be on vacation. Fans can follow his cross-country adventures on AO Racing’s social media channels as he sends cartoon postcards from iconic landmarks, scenic spots, and maybe even a snack stop or two.

“Rexy has had quite the year, starting off with an incident at the end of the first race, which resulted in several visits to the orthodontist to fix his smile,” said team principal Gunnar Jeannette. “Coming back from that to achieve back-to-back wins at Sebring and Long Beach with his braces fitted was a perfect rebound. With Rexy’s win tally now at five, he has a very jealous sister in Roxy, who is waiting for another turn to get her first victory. And with so much happening, we at AO Racing thought this was the perfect time to bring Rexy and Roxy together for their first public appearance at Air|Water before they go their separate ways.”

Other experiences available to Air|Water ticket holders will include rides in the new 911 Porsche Carrera, in which attendees will be able to experience the thrill and agility of the new 911 with a professional driver on a specialized course. This unique opportunity will be available to A|W ticket holders free of charge during event hours.

Among the collection of race cars at the event will be the 1985 McLaren MP4/2B powered by the Porsche-TAG turbo engine. It’s the car that took McLaren to the 1985 Formula 1 world championship driven by legends Alain Prost and Niki Lauda.
