Aussie punks Amyl and the Sniffers are tearing it up across North America, finally bringing their 2024 album Cartoon Darkness to these shores. Their tour‘s been going since late March, including an appearance at Coachella; they’re in their last week of shows, but their energy hasn’t flagged and they played a typically wild and wooly set on Thursday night at NYC’s Rooftop at Pier 17.
Amyl tore through 21 songs, hitting all three of their albums pretty evenly with an emphasis on the new one for a satisfying setlist that included “U Should Not Be Doin’ That,” “Security,’ “Got You,” “Balaclava Lover Boogie,” “Facts,” “Guided by Angels,” “Some Mutts (Can’t Be Muzzled),” “Freaks to the Front,” “Tiny Bikini,” “Jerkin’,” “GFY” and more. Amy Taylor held court with her firebrand indefatigable energy all night.
