Although on its surface the John Wick series may seem straightforward, the films were able to incorporate the influence of classical westerns, East Asian action cinema, classical samurai epics, neo-noir mysteries, and comic book worldbuilding into a dynamic, ever-expanding universe that had become increasingly creative. The franchise has benefited from the experience of director Chad Staheslki, a former stuntman who brought his own experience to make the fight scenes as authentic as possible.
