It’s official, filming has begun on the second season of “Star Wars: Ahsoka” with lead actress Rosario Dawson back in make-up and taking a photo of her shadow as she goes back in front of cameras in the role of Ahsoka Tano for the next few months.

In her Instagram post, she captions it: “& we’re off…to galaxies far, far away….!”. It follows on from Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025 the weekend before last, which indicated that shooting was to get underway in a matter of days.

At the convention, showrunner Dave Filoni cited Hayao Miyazaki’s work, especially “Princess Mononoke,” as a major influence and “such an important reference point for me and for us” in doing the show.

The eight-episode second season will see Rory McCann take over the role of Baylan Skoll from the late Ray Stevenson. Filoni says Baylan plays a key part in Ahsoka’s journey: “Baylan is important. He’s the parallel to Ahsoka, and that’s a parallel that’s got to continue.”

Meanwhile Admiral Ackbar will take on Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), and Hayden Christensen is set to return as Anakin Skywalker. The new season is expected to air sometime in 2026 on the Disney+ service.
