A woman saw couples doing gender reveals with Build-A-Bears. She took things up a notch by doing the same at Dior.
Rachel Santana Krtausch could have used balloons, cake, or fireworks for her gender reveal. Instead, she bought a blue Dior purse to celebrate.

- Rachel Santana Krtausch revealed her baby's gender with a $6,000 Dior purse.
- A viral TikTok video of the occasion has garnered 15.5 million views since February.
- She told Business Insider that the luxury bag was cheaper than throwing a traditional party.
Rachel Santana Krtausch didn't want fireworks, a pastel cake, or balloons to reveal the gender of her baby.
She wanted a $6,000 designer purse in blue or pink.
The 29-year-old influencer and her husband, Austin Krtausch, were about to leave for a European vacation when they learned they were expecting a child. They also learned that a blood test could quickly reveal their baby's gender.
Though her husband was eager to hear the results, Santana Krtausch paused. After all, she'd had an idea.
"We didn't get each other anything for Christmas because we wanted to save our money, go on our trip, and buy each other really nice gifts in Paris," she told Business Insider. "So I told my husband I wanted to get a Lady Dior bag and do the gender reveal at a Dior store." Rachel Satana
A trip to Paris and a pregnancy
Santana Krtausch and her husband met in high school but didn't date at the time. Instead, they romantically connected in 2021 when he started working as an attorney in Miami, and she became a nurse in the same city.
Their story unfolded like a fairy tale from there. The couple got engaged in June 2023 and married in April 2024. In the summer of 2024, they purchased a home in the city where they fell in love, and Santana Krtausch became pregnant in December.
Of course, they were eager to share the news with loved ones. Santana Krtausch figured they'd have a party where she'd cut into a pink or blue cake. But they'd planned a European vacation months in advance, and their flight left in three days.
Knowing they didn't want to wait any longer to learn the gender of their baby, the couple threw any ideas of a traditional party out the window. They focused solely on their own reveal.
"I've seen people do gender reveals at Build-A-Bear Workshop," Santana Krtausch said, noting the trend of couples making bears and having loved ones dress them as girls or boys. "I was inspired."
One $6,000 purse later
Krtausch was a little worried about the luxury plan — specifically that his wife would end up with a bag she didn't love as much as others she'd dreamed of buying.
His wife convinced him, though, and they received an email with the results while on a train to Paris. Their first stop became the Champs-Élysées Dior boutique.
There, Santana Krtausch entrusted a sales associate with a meaningful task: open the email, swipe her credit card, and hand her a small Lady Dior in pink or blue with an added scarf on the handle, depending on the gender of their baby.
Santana Krtausch said the associate was honored to help and went above and beyond to make the occasion special. She closed the email to ensure the couple didn't get a sneak peek, held onto the receipt listing the bag's color, and provided a private room so the couple could have their moment.
Santana Krtausch documented the reveal, which has since gone viral on TikTok. It has 15.5 million views since February 6. The bag retails for $6,000 on Dior's website, and the designer's scarves cost upward of $250 each.
