Zeekr 7X EV to be previewed in Malaysia this week – Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7 rival to launch Q3 2025

The Zeekr 7X will be previewed at the upcoming Malaysia Autoshow that is taking place this week, Zeekr Malaysia has revealed.

Earlier this year, Zeekr Malaysia confirmed that the 7X will be launched in Malaysia in the third quarter of this year, following the electric SUV model’s debut in the right-hand-drive market that is Thailand.

Competing with the likes of the Tesla Model Y and the BYD Sealion 7, the Zeekr 7X measures 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,666 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,925 mm, making it larger than the Tesla, but slightly smaller than the BYD.

In China, the 7X gets either a 75 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) ‘Golden Brick’ battery pack or a 100 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) ‘Qilin’ battery pack, where the former offers up to 605 km of range on the Chinese domestic CLTC test cycle (480 km WLTP), while the latter offers up to 780 km of range on the CLTC cycle (615 km WLTP).

Both battery options power a single rear-mounted drive motor producing 421 PS and 440 Nm of torque, while the larger capacity NMC battery option can be specified with an additional motor in front for AWD, bringing combined outputs of 646 PS and 710 Nm of torque, while CLTC range is 705 km (543 km WLTP).

The 7X is capable of attaining a 10-80% charge in 10.5 minutes through DC fast charging for the LFP battery-equipped version, while NMC battery versions require 15 minutes to be recharged over the same measure. The 7X is also capable of supplying electricity at up to 60 kW DC or 3.3 kW AC, made possible by the 800-volt electrical architecture of its PMA2+ platform.

Interior equipment for the 7X includes a 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster display, a 16-inch mini-LED infotainment touchscreen, dual Qi wireless chargers, a 21-speaker sound system with headrest speakers, Nappa leather upholstery and powered seats in front and at the rear.

Positioned in a more premium segment than the BYD Sealion 7, Zeekr’s electric SUV entry is priced from 229,900 yuan (about RM132k) to 269,900 yuan (RM156k) in China. The Zeekr 7X is set to be previewed in Malaysia this week, ahead of its official launch in the third quarter of this year.
