Rockstar Games just revealed the second trailer for its highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, and several references in the new trailer have fans believing Sony does have a marketing deal with the gaming industry giant.
GTA 6 trailer features references to PlayStation controller and console
At the very end of the new GTA 6 trailer, it is revealed that the footage was captured on a PS5. This very small detail has fans believing in the rumored Sony marketing deal with Rockstar Games.
Many posted in the PlayStation subreddit on the matter.
“Rockstar has always been more on the Sony side than Xbox. It was a no-brainer, at least on the marketing side,” says one Reddit user.
“This was pretty much all but confirmed in my mind when PlayStation paid for the marketing rights to the current-gen upgrade of Grand Theft Auto V, with PlayStation players receiving in-game cash every week up until its release date,” says another Reddit user.
Another facet of the GTA 6 trailer that some are pointing to as evidence of this deal is the appearance of what looks like a PS5 and PlayStation controllers. As reported by GameSpot, there is a scene where the dual protagonists are at home. As the TV plays an ad for a gun shop, a console and controller that look eerily similar to Sony’s gaming devices can be seen.
This new trailer for GTA 6 comes just days after Rockstar Games delayed the game. It was originally set to launch sometime this year. While a price has yet to be confirmed, it does seem it could hit at least $80 given Microsoft and Nintendo‘s recently announced price hikes for their Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 games, respectively.
GTA 6 finally comes to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on May 26, 2026.
