Bloody FM’s latest fictional podcast, The Gospel of Haven from Daisy McNamara, the showrunner behind SCP Archives, Eeler’s Choice, and Poe: Evermore, is ready to address our troubled times. It explores body autonomy, the power of faith, and individual identity through a post-Roe v. Wade lens.
The first trailer premiered today for the podcast, which drops March 14 on all podcast platforms.
Haven is an isolated community dwelling within the body of the god they worship. “I wanted to explore the horror of a dystopian society in which the right to any part of your body is completely absent. If the community decides it wants your heart, your lungs, your liver? Lie on the operating table and ‘think of England.’ I feel like Haven is very influenced by my status as a disabled, fat, aroace woman – I’ve often felt like my body is somehow everyone else’s business,” McNamara said.
McNamara recommends The Gospel of Haven for fans of the novel Hell Followed Us, NBC’s Hannibal, The Silt Verses podcast, the novel Someone You Can Build a Nest In, or anyone interested in stories unpacking sexuality, reproductive choice, self-harm, suicide, gore, body horror, infection, cults, and religious trauma.
“The Gospel of Haven is the most intense horror I’ve ever written,” McNamara said. “It explores the intersection between the spiritual and physical after the end of the world.”
