Baller League UK has arrived with the new six-a-side football tournament combining Premier League legends and a host of social media stars.

The influencer-led tournament, which first gained popularity in Germany, has now been brought to the UK for its first season and will be held in London’s Copper Box Arena.

A host of ex-Premier League stars have been drafted to compete in the league which will see twelve teams compete for a top-four spot and a place in the semi-finals.

And each team is also blessed with a high-profile manager, with the likes of Alan Shearer, Luis Figo, John Terry, Ian Wright and Gary Lineker all involved from the sidelines.

Ahead of the tournament’s first round of action, here’s everything you need to know.

Baller League UK format and rules

Each team has 12 players to choose from which were created in a draft earlier in the year.

The six-a-side matches will take place indoors and feature two 15-minute halves and rolling subs.

While the offside rule is still in place, there are no corners and, instead, a penalty is awarded if the ball goes behind off the opposition three times.

Rather than a regulation spot kick, a player take on the goalkeeper 1v1 with only six seconds on the clock to try and score.

And an additional twist will see new rules added to the final three minutes of each half which include: A 3v3 format, long-range goals counting as double, goalkeepers not being allowed to use their hands and more.

Managers can sign two wildcards per game week to join their squad, with the MVP of each night winning their team a legend for their next game.
