NCTE: Take Action to Preserve Humanities Education

The presidential administration reportedly intends to gut the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), substantially reducing its staff, cutting grant programs, and rescinding grants that have already been awarded.

NCTE strongly supports NEH and, as a result, was recently active on Capitol Hill sharing how NEH positively affects teaching and learning. NCTE condemned the reported actions in this statement cosigned as part of the National Humanities Alliance.

NCTE also urges members to use this email form to contact their members of Congress and encourage them to support NEH, which enriches K–12 education by connecting students and teachers in every state with our nation’s rich history and culture. The agency funds grant opportunities that have enriched the professional experiences and research of many NCTE members over time.
