The Toronto Blue Jays‘ opening-day roster is beginning to take shape.

Starter Jake Bloss, outfielder Jonatan Clase and infielder Orelvis Martinez were among five players optioned to triple-A on Thursday, the team announced.

Relievers Dillon Tate and Josh Walker were also sent down the Buffalo Bisons.

Bloss and Clase were acquired in trade-deadline deals last summer and viewed as major league-ready prospects. But the Blue Jays’ rotation was all but set without Bloss coming into spring training, while the free-agent addition of Anthony Santander pushed Clase out of the initial roster picture.

Martinez, a longtime Toronto prospect, made a one-game cameo for the Blue Jays last year but was suspended 80 games after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug.

Tate and Walker were brought in at separate points of the off-season as bullpen depth.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays also re-assigned catcher Matt Whatley and pitchers Mason Fluharty, Kevin Gowdy and Hayden Jeunger to minor-league training camp.
