Weezer’s Coachella set still on after bassist Scott Shriner’s wife shot by police

Multiple sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter that Weezer‘s Coachella set is still on after author Jillian Lauren, wife of bassist Scott Shriner, was shot by police this week.

The shooting happened while police were searching for three suspects in a hit-and-run in the eastbound lanes of the 134 Freeway in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles. Police say that they encountered Lauren, who wasn’t a suspect, while pursuing one of them. The suspect had reportedly been running through a backyard, and police encountered Lauren, who was holding a gun, in the front yard of her home next door. Police say they ordered her to drop her gun multiple times but that she refused to and pointed it at them. It’s currently unclear whether she fired at police, but she was shot in the shoulder by an officer, and taken to a hospital, where her injuries were found to not be life threatening.

Lauren was also arrested for attempted murder and taken into custody. LA County jail records show that she was released after posting $1 million bond. Requests for comments from her manager and a representative for Weezer from Associated Press went unanswered.

According to TMZ, Shriner will be on hand to perform with Weezer; they were a last minute addition to the weekend one lineup of Coachella, and they’re scheduled to perform on the Mojave stage at 3:10 PM on Saturday.
