Netflix has confirmed that the teaser trailer for the second season of “Wednesday” is set to go online tomorrow (April 23rd).
Ahead of that, the streamer has released the first poster for the new season which is expected to air sometime in the back half of this year – arriving nearly three years after the first season aired in November 2022 due to strike-related delays.
Jenna Ortega returns as Wednesday Addams and is joined by four returnees who’ve been upgraded to regulars for the new season – Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones as her parents Gomez and Morticia, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Ritchie Santiago.
Also joining the cast for the new run are Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Noah Taylor, Evie Templeton, Joanna Lumley, Thandwie Newton, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, Christopher Lloyd and Lady Gaga.
As previously indicated, the new season will be darker, more daring and have more of a horror tone than the first – eschewing the high school romance angle.
Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Smallville”) are the writers and showrunners, with Tim Burton executive producing and directing several episodes.
Upon release, the first season quickly became Netflix’s most-watched English-language series – along with snagging four Emmy wins from twelve nominations.
