CBS has determined the fate of two of its series.

First up, the “House”-esque medical procedural meets “Sherlock Holmes” lore series “Watson” has been renewed for a second season – the order coming just two months after the launch of the Morris Chestnut-led series.

The show’s premiere episode, which aired January 26th, was the network’s most-watched scripted episode of the current TV season with Nielsen indicating the show is averaging 6.79 million viewers each week.

Set in the present day, the series takes place six months after Holmes and Moriarty fell over Reichenbach Falls and vanished. His partner Dr. John Watson turns his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries at a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders.

The series has also had guest stars like Randall Park as Professor James Moriarty and Matt Berry as the voice of Sherlock Holmes. The season finale airs May 11th.

The news comes as CBS has cancelled its late night talk show “After Midnight,” hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, after two seasons. CBS has decided to move out of programming the 12:30am slot, which was previously filled by “The Late Late Show”.

CBS had quietly renewed the show for a third season but hadn’t announced it publicly.
