Watch Lorde debut “What Was That” in Washington Square Park, following an initial shutdown
After the event was initially shut down by cops before it could begin, Lorde made it happen hours later.
Lorde had plans to throw a last-minute event in NYC’s Washington Square Park tonight but, after tons of people showed up, she posted that it was shut down by cops before it could even begin. “Omg @thepark the cops are shutting us down,” she wrote. “I am truly Amazed by how many of you showed up !!! But they’re telling me you gotta disperse … I’m so sorry.”
Well, she made it happen after all. A few hours later, she made her way to the park and danced and sang along as she debuted her new single “What Was That” through a PA system. Here’s video of it going down:
