Jimmy Fallon gave a hilariously long intro for Mumford & Sons on the Tonight Show.

It came after frontman Marcus Mumford called the host out over his painfully short intro for the band on Saturday Night Live‘s 50th anniversary concert, earlier this year.

The singer-songwriter expressed his disappointment earlier this week, saying the band had known Fallon for “a very long time” and that they expected him to introduce them saying something “really sweet,” or talk about some of their accomplishments as a group or with regard to their involvement with SNL. Instead he said at the time: “Ladies and gentleman, Mumford & Sons.”

Fallon claimed that he did originally have a heartfelt speech prepared for their introduction but show creator Lorne Micheals canned it. “You totally did them for other artists,” Mumford hit back, laughing. “You were wanging on about (Lady) Gaga!”

As a result, Fallon made an epic three-and-a-half minute speech before the band’s performance of ‘RUSHMERE’, documenting their history as a band, dating back to their first Grammy wins and their first appearance at the Glastonbury along with each member’s hobbies. You can view it below.

Their new album is set for release on tomorrow (March 28) via Island/Glassnote (pre-order/pre-save here).

Meanwhile, the band recently added two extra dates to their upcoming UK arena tour after selling out all previous dates within two hours earlier this week.

Earlier this month, the band announced a 21-stop tour of the UK and Europe. Those shows kick off at the Avicii Arena in Stockholm on November 6, with the UK dates starting with Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on December 2, followed by Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Cardiff and London. Find any remaining tickets here.

The band have implemented a £1 donation to Live Trust for every ticket sold for the UK dates, with the money going to the new funding initiative from LIVE that offers financial support to those working in live music. They have also partnered with PLUS1 so that £1 from every ticket sold will go to War Child.

They have also been added to the bill for Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool – set to headline the main stage on May 25.

Elsewhere, they also recently performed their 2009 classic ‘Awake My Soul’ with The Office star Ed Helms in Los Angeles.
