Horror movies are having an unusually difficult time in theaters, with only a handful of artsy titles managing to stick out among the crowd. This year’s biggest horror hit remainsThe Monkey, which grossed around twice as much as the IP-driven Wolf Manin its global run. This week, Sony’s Until Dawn opened with soft numbers at the box office, mere days after Ryan Coogler’s Sinners broke records. Inspired by the video game of the same name, Until Dawn is directed by horror specialist David F. Sandberg, who’d been lost to the now-defunct DC Extended Universe for a few years.
