‘Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith’ Crushes Competition With Record Setting Re-Release Haul at Domestic Box Office
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith has returned to the big screen for its 20th anniversary with a record setting re-release haul.
If last year was any indication, there is a huge audience for re-releases, especially of those films that are aimed directly at a millennial audience. The theory is being proven true yet again, with Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sithmelting records in celebration of its 20th anniversary. The movie was re-launched in theaters this week, where it exceeded all expectations and out-performed the brand-new release The Accountant 2, starring Ben Affleck. It also grossed around twice as much as Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace did in its own re-opening weekend last year.
