Tyson Fury’s manager gives cryptic update on boxing future: ‘He’s getting a little bored’

Tyson Fury’s manager Spencer Brown has insisted the heavyweight is still retired, even if he is struggling with boredom. Fury announced his retirement earlier in the year after failing to beat Oleksandr Usyk in their heavyweight rematch just before Christmas. For now the Morecambe native has yet to indicate he could U-turn on his decision as he spends more time with his wife Paris instead. He has even taken up a new role as England manager at charity football match Soccer Aid, showing no signs of returning to a full training camp. But manager Brown has spoken to the former champion and believes his retirement is concrete, even if this time he has remained in fighting shape. He told iFL TV: “I spoke to him last week, he’s really happy. Really happy. “He’s getting a little bit bored but he was really happy. I think he went to a nice birthday party over the weekend and had a few beers. “Just speaking to him gives you a bit of light in your life because he makes you smile and he doesn’t anything too seriously. “Is he going to fight again? He’s retired. He might be getting a little bit bored at the moment but that’s just a natural thing. “He’s just enjoying himself, he’s running everyday. He’s really looking good. “He’s tanned, he’s fit. He looks good. I was quite surprised when I saw him. He’s proper on his diet.” Fury suffered back-to-back defeats against Usyk, but is still viewed by many in the boxing fraternity as the second best fighter in the division. There are still some huge commercial fights and a route back to the world title available for the heavyweight stalwart. Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh suggested on multiple occasions he will eventually hold talks with Fury. And WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman suggested the Briton could be handed an interim world title shot if he does choose to return. He said: “We will [support an undisputed heavyweight title fight] and we will assess what is happening, what is the best scenario. He told me he’s retired and I congratulated him. You go out and you have a beautiful family, you’re a multi-millionaire. “But boxers have something.
