'Thunderbolts*' Lewis Pullman Details Workout and Diet Regimen for Marvel Role
The Marvel actor detailed the unique specifics to make sure he was "superhero ready."

While most kids dream of being superheroes at some point during their childhood, many of us may have opted to rethink that after hearing how grueling the preparation is to even pretend to be one.
Lewis Pullman, who plays Sentry in Marvel's newest release, Thunderbolts*, recently took fans through a deep dive of just how intense his superhero prep was, and it didn't exactly sound fun. It was an especially unique situation for Pullman, as his character Bob was "scrawny," as he put it, at the beginning of the film, but he needed to look "like a superhero" at the end as Sentry.
Pullman explained what went into preparing for that during a recent interview with Men's Health, revealing that he only had around a month and a half to prepare.
"I only had like a month and a half to prep, but it's how to get superhero ready," Pullman said. "Essentially, I did a lot of boxing, eating chicken, turkey, no carbs whatsoever and hitting the gym with [my trainer] for like an hour and a half. That got me super lean."
From what Pullman said, the final stretch right before filming scenes sounds like a nice pat on the back for hard work, at least, as he was able to tee off on candy and sweets.
"Then the day before, we kind of limited how much water I was drinking, and like an hour before showtime, you're eating like Skittles and Snickers, which is fun," he added.
Pullman also discussed one scene in which part of his shirt around his stomach gets shot off, revealing that he had to do ab workouts for "two hours" before cameras started rolling to film that clip.
The Thunderbolts* star deserves credit for getting the job done, because the workout regimen and intense diet on their own sound tough enough. But doing both together? That had to be a daunting task.
