The Players 2025: Date and how to follow The 2025 Players Championship started on Thursday, March 13.  It is being held at the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and will be played over four days until Sunday, March 16.  The Stadium Course is a par 72 and will measure 7,245 yards in length. This has been reduced from 144 after changes were made to some events on the PGA Tour to promote a better flow of play. Scheffler is the star of the field, but McIlroy, who won The Players in 2019, is challenging again following his brilliant victory at Pebble Beach in early February. World No.5 Hideki Matsuyama also already has one tournament win under his belt in 2025, but he missed the cut this time out. The Players 2025: What has been said?  McIlroy has some work to do in the fourth round if he wants to catch the leaders, and he may regret missing some opportunities. Speaking on Saturday, he said: “I felt like I played better than I scored. Every dropped shot I felt like was soft. “I three-putted the fifth, 13th and the 17th. I also took four to get down from not very far away on 12. “I controlled my ball well apart from that. It’s just unfortunate that I had a couple of sloppy mistakes from around the greens. “I feel like I left a lot out there. At the same time, I’m not too far away and it was nice to birdie the last at least.”
