‘That’s cold’ – Chiefs’ Xavier Worthy issues brutal five-word takedown after NFL hopeful potentially loses millions in Combine
Barring a ridiculous performance from an offensive lineman, Xavier Worthy’s Combine record is going nowhere. The former Texas wideout ran a blistering 4.21-second 40-yard dash in 2024 and earned a move to the Kansas City Chiefs. GettyIsaiah Bond didn’t back up his bold claims[/caption] Fellow Longhorns prospect Isaiah Bond was sure he would erase Worthy’s name from the history books. “I’m going to break the record tomorrow, for sure,” Bond said Friday. “I anticipate running a 4.20 or possibly if I’m feeling great I might run a 4.1.” Texas running back Jaydon Blue felt the same. “I think I’ll break the 40 record … 4.1 or 4.20,” he declared, via The Athletic. “Workouts all last year, that was the person [Worthy] I ran next to. “Me and him used to go at it. He won a few, I won a few. He’s fast, don’t get me wrong. I don’t think people really know how fast I am because I don’t really run in games unless I have to. I think y’all will see that” Blue (4.38 seconds) and Bond (4.39) were nowhere close to beating the record. In fact, receiver Matthew Golden’s 4.29-second effort was the best of the Longhorns on Saturday. With only the hulking O-linemen to come on Sunday, Worthy will be the fastest player in the NFL for another year at least. “There’s fast then there’s me,” he posted on X after seeing his crown challenged. “Respect those who come before you,” he later added on Instagram. Fans were loving seeing Worthy defend his name. GettyBond still ran a great time but it won’t have seen him leap up boards[/caption] Worthy’s blistering time earned him a dream Draft spotGetty “Fastest WR in Chiefs history, go off X,” commented one to throw shade at Tyreek Hill. “U clear that Bond dork goat,” added another. “Damn, that’s cold,” a third posted. “Stay humble brodie it’s just a 40 yard dash,” a fourth noted. Worthy caught 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns in his rookie season after playing all 17 games. He added 287 yards and three scores in the postseason — including a Super Bowl double — but it was not enough to taste glory. Bond was being projected as a second or third round pick before his time, which is unlikely to have moved him up boards. A time closer to Worthy’s could have boosted his first contract by millions of dollars. His top speed of 24.17 miles per hour paced all wideouts, though. Only Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston (24.25mph) ran faster. Golden solidified his first-round pedigree with a position-leading time. That was despite suffering a high ankle sprain in January, with suggestions he could run faster at his pro day. “Golden has earned millions of dollars after transferring to UT,” noted one reporter.
