PLAYOFF MATCH 1: Los Angeles Golf Club (4-0-1) vs. New York Golf Club (2-2-1)
LAGC: Collin Morikawa, Tommy Fleetwood, Sahith Theegala (sitting: Justin Rose)
NYGC: Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, Cameron Young (sitting: Matt Fitzpatrick)
- LA vs. New York is a rematch of LA’s massive comeback victory after trailing 4-0 at the start of the 12th hole (and holding just a 2 per cent chance to win)
- LA did not lose a match in regulation this season (four wins and an overtime loss to Atlanta)
- LA secured the No. 1 seed with a 5-3 victory over The Bay
- After starting the season 0-2, New York finished with two victories and an overtime loss to finish with a 2-2-1 record.
- LA led TGL through the regular season in total holes won (27) and in singles holes won (13)
- New York has the advantage over LA in driving distance, greens in regulation and feet-of-putts made, but strokes gained: ball-striking favour LA
- Xander Schauffele returned to the final match of the season after being sidelined due to an injury to help New York defeat Boston Common Golf 10-6 and earn a spot in the playoffs
- Collin Morikawa bounced back after a Saturday 77 at TPC Sawgrass with a final-round 69 to finish T10 at The Players Championship
- Tommy Fleetwood also had a steady week at The Players, finishing T14 while Sahith Theegala finished T52.
- It wasn’t such a great effort by the New York Trio, however. Schauffele finished last, Rickie Fowler finished second last and Cameron Young finished T61 at The Players.

PLAYOFF MATCH 2: The Bay Golf Club (4-1-0) vs. Atlanta Drive GC (4-1-0)
The Bay: Shane Lowry, Min Woo Lee, Ludvig Aberg (injured: Wyndham Clark)
Atlanta: Justin Thomas, Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay (sitting: Lucas Glover)
- This match is a repeat of one of the most exciting matches of the whole TGL regular season, with The Bay winning 6-5 in overtime — Atlanta’s only loss of the season.
- The Bay won four consecutive matches to begin 2025 but lost its final match to LA to fall to the No. 2 seed.
- The Bay and Atlanta had the same regular-season record but won more holes through the season as the tiebreaker.
- The teams are very evenly matched, with The Bay No. 1 in TGL in birdies or better, strokes gained: total, scrambling and strokes gained: around the green (with Atlanta No. 2), while Atlanta is No. 1 in strokes gained: putting (and The Bay is No. 2).
- The Bay led TGL in nearly every key driving statistic.
- Atlanta won 18 points in singles, the most in TGL.
- Funny enough, Atlanta is sitting its hottest player, as Lucas Glover finished T3 at The Players. Patrick Cantlay finished T12, however, and Justin Thomas tied the TPC Sawgrass course record with a 10-under 62 on Friday.
- Shane Lowry had the second-best round of the day Sunday at TPC Sawgrass to sneak into the top 20, while his teammates let him down at The Players. Ludvig Aberg missed the cut and Wyndham Clark withdrew due to a neck injury.
- Wyndham Clark was originally in the lineup for The Bay but the neck injury he sustained at The Players will keep him out of the playoff match, TGL announced Monday. Min Woo Lee, who finished T20 at TPC Sawgrass, will take his place.
HOW IT WORKS

SCORING EXPLANATION VIA TGL
Modern Match Play
- Each hole has a value of 1 point, and the team with the fewest shots on a hole wins the point
- Ties are worth 0 points and there are no carryovers
- The Hammer (NEW): Each hole is worth 1 point unless a team throws the Hammer. Each team will begin the match with three Hammers. Playing the Hammer raises the stakes of a hole by one point when played and accepted. Teams can throw the Hammer only once on a given hole but are otherwise free to use them at any point in the match to up the ante. The maximum number of points on offer per hole is now 3 (should each team throw a Hammer that is accepted by their opponent). The new rules mean each team will always get the opportunity to throw the Hammer during a match.
- The team with the most points wins the match
- Each match will be played until all 15 holes are completed, even if the match outcome has been decided. A team’s total number of holes won will be used as a tiebreaker in the SoFi Cup Standings at the end of the regular season.
Format/Sessions
- Sessions
- Within a match, there will be two sessions played in two different formats
- Triples: 9 holes — Three players per team competing in an alternate-shot format.
- Singles: 6 holes — One-on-one, head-to-head competition for the entire hole. Each player from each team plays a total of two full holes during the session.
- Overtime: If the match is tied after 15 holes, the teams will play a best-of-three, closest-to-the-pin competition to decide the winner. This will be similar to penalty kicks in soccer.
- The hole location and orientation of the green will remain unchanged from the final/15th hole of the match.
- The shot distance will be between 25-50 yards and decided pre-match by the TGL match official. All players will play from the same spot. The ball must finish on the putting surface to be eligible.
