talkSPORT betting tips – Best racing bets and expert advice for the Aintree Day 3
It’s day three of the Grand National Festival at Aintree on Saturday and all eyes will be on the big race come 4.00pm as the latest chapter in one of Britain’s richest sporting fairytales is penned. There are seven races at Aintree on Saturday, including three Grade 1s, as they race from 1.20-5.35 and we’ve got our best bets away from the big race below. talkSPORT BET welcome offer – Bet £10 Get £10 in bonuses* Aintree Day 3 tips 1.20 Aintree – Park Of Kings – 10/1 3.05 Aintree – Strong Leader – 6/1 5.00 Aintree – Only By Night – 7/4 1.20 Aintree – Park Of Kings – 10/1 Proceedings on National Day begin with a handicap hurdle over an extended three-miles with a strong cast of 22 runners set to get things off to a flying start. Jeriko Du Reponet (second) and Catch Him Derry (third) ran big races in the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival last month but so, too, did PARK OF KINGS in the Martin Pipe on the final afternoon in the Cotswolds. Conor Stone-Walsh was in the plate for that race and his partner made excellent late gains from the middle of a 24-runner pack to be fifth in a race won by Wodhooh for Gordon Elliott. He ran a stormer when second to Lossiemouth in the Aintree Hurdle here on Thursday. Park Of Kings runs from an unchanged mark of 132 now, has Mark Walsh in the saddle this time and could have more to offer on just his second start over three-miles. 3.05 Aintree – Strong Leader – 6/1 Teahupoo bids for compensation after being mugged late on by Bob Olinger at Cheltenham but a little over three weeks is a sharp turnaround for a horse that does best when he is fresh. STRONG LEADER won this contest 12 months having sidestepped the Cheltenham Festival after a so-so run in the Cleeve Hurdle in January. Olly Murphy has trod the same path now. His stable star won the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury on his comeback before a folding timidly in the Long Walk at Ascot in December. He was only fourth in the Cleeve in January and this race has likely been the long-term aim. His Aintree record reads 121 in three visits and he’s a big player defending this title. 5.00 Aintree – Only By Night – 7/4 The concluding Grade 1 of the meeting is the Rosconn Group Maghull Novices’ Chase over two-miles and three of the four beaten horses from last month’s Arkle are set to re-engage. The improbable Cheltenham winner Jango Baie was denied here on day one but ran well upped in trip. ONLY BY NIGHT was the one that looked to have sealed Cotswolds glory for Gavin Cromwell and Keith Donoghue only for the mare to get pipped on the line by Jango Baie’s late surge. Perhaps L’eau Du Sud got to the lead too early in that race under Harry Skelton as Majborough’s jumping let him down, but he has to perk up in his first-time cheekpieces if he’s going to give 7lb to the Irish mare now and turn the form around. talkSPORT BET welcome offer – Bet £10 Get £10 in bonuses* Grand National Lucky Dip Spin the wheel for the Grand National and get a random horse at 30/1 to win the race!
