T-Mobile CEO Is Warning of Potential Price Hikes, Blames It on Tariffs
T Mobile fired retailer scammers activities

Oh, T-Mobile, you’ll do anything to increase prices, right? If you’re a T-Mobile subscriber, prepare yourself because, according to a warning issued by the carrier’s CEO, it looks like a potential price hike is on its way. The reason? Tariffs.

T-Mobile recently released its Q1 2025 earnings, and the company is doing pretty well. According to the numbers, T-Mobile saw an increase in revenue of 6.6% from Q1 2024 to $20.9 billion. It also saw a 24% increase in net income to $2.95 billion. Its profit margin also increased to 14%, and its EPS jumped from $2.00 in Q1 2024 to $2.59 in Q1 2025. Everything looks good, right?

Tariffs could cause price hikes

However, despite those encouraging figures, T-Mobile thinks a price hike is justified. According to comments made by T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert, he issued a warning to customers that a price hike could be in the cards for the future. He cites Trump’s upcoming tariffs as a reason.

According to Sievert, “We certainly understand the goals of the administration. It’s not clear how much this (tariff policy) is going to affect the handset market. I think to the extent that it does land, and if it’s a material thing, ultimately, I think we’re going to see that the customer is going to wind up having to bear that cost. Taking on something big on the tariff front is just not something our business model is interested in trying to do or able to try to do.”

This isn’t the first time T-Mobile has increased its prices. Some of you might recall that the carrier announced a price hike not too long ago. However, Sievert says that is a completely separate issue. “What we are out there doing right now is really just completing a project that we started last year to get after some long outdated plans.”

We have to wonder how well customers will react if T-Mobile increases its prices. Right now, the carrier is facing a lot of backlash, not just from customers but also from employees, over the forced implementation of the T-Life app.
