A new take on ABC series “Desperate Housewives” is in development at Onyx Collective, Simpson Street, Shiny Penny and 20th Television.
Natalie Chaidez (“Queen of the South,” “The Flight Attendant”) is attached to write and executive produce the series currently going by the title “Wisteria Lane”. Kerry Washington, Stacey Sher and Pilar Savone will also executive produce.
The new show is set around a group of five very different friends and sometimes frenemies who all live on a picture-perfect cul-de-sac called ‘Wisteria Lane’.
On the surface, all the Wisteria neighbors are living the dream. Beautiful homes, gorgeous families, shiny SUVs in the driveway – but behind those white picket fences and smiling Insta posts, are secrets.
Marc Cherry created the original soapy drama which ran for eight seasons and launched in 2004 alongside “Lost,” the pair of shows proved major global successes right out of the gate.
Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria starred in the original which received 38 Emmy nominations over its run.
