After all the bad press that Southwest has gotten over the last few weeks for its recent and upcoming changes, it wouldn’t be surprising if a number of previously loyal customers are jumping ship and moving to other airlines.
To seemingly try to help stem the net migration, Southwest is offering up to 5,000 bonus points for new Rapid Rewards members.
The Deal
- Earn 750 bonus points when enrolling in Southwest’s Rapid Rewards program as a new member. Then earn 4,250 bonus points when flying one round trip or two one way flights within 60 days of enrolling.
- Direct link to offer.
Key Terms
- Enroll as a new Member in Rapid Rewards program between April 8, 2025 12:01 a.m. CT and May 5, 2025 11:59 p.m. CT (the Enrollment Period) and receive up to 5,000 Rapid Rewards bonus points.
- The new Member will receive 750 Rapid Reward bonus points within six business days of enrolling. New Member’s points can be viewed in their My Account on Southwest.com. The 750 bonus points awarded to the new Member are nontransferable to other Rapid Rewards accounts.
- Then, if the Member books and flies one qualifying round trip or two qualifying one-way flights within 60 days of enrolling in Rapid Rewards (the “Promotional Period”), the Member will earn an additional 4,250 Rapid Rewards bonus points. Member’s qualifying flights must be booked through Southwest Airlines or a Southwest Business channel (swabiz.com (SWABIZ), Global Distribution System (GDS), or Southwest Partner Services (SPS) distribution channels with Southwest Airlines inventory during the Promotional Period for travel during the Promotional Period.
- Only new Rapid Rewards Members are eligible for this promotion. You are not eligible for this promotion or any portion of the Rapid Rewards bonus points if you enroll under a false name. Flights booked must use the same first and last name on the Rapid Rewards Member account and contain the Rapid Rewards number received during enrollment for Rapid Rewards.
- New Member’s flights must be completed in the 60 days after enrolling in Rapid Rewards, during the Promotional Period. Only new flight bookings booked after the Member’s enrollment date are eligible for this promotion.
Quick Thoughts
If you’ve never enrolled in Southwest’s loyalty program, you might as well take advantage of this promotion even if you have zero plans to fly with Southwest within a couple of months. That’s because you’ll earn 750 bonus points that don’t expire.
If you do end up needing to fly with Southwest a couple of times in the next couple of months (whether that’s a round trip or two one ways), you’ll then earn an additional 4,250 bonus points on top of the standard points earnings from your flight. That’s not bad at all and is potentially enough to book a one way flight in the future depending on the award pricing for where you’ll want to fly.
