Last year saw the surprise success of director Robert Eggers' Nosferatu, a remake of F.W. Murnau's German Expressionist classic from over a century ago. Last month saw the blockbuster debut of director Ryan Coogler's Sinners, his first stab at horror. In two weeks of release, Sinners has shattered every box office expectation, having earned near-unanimous praise from critics and crowds. It's already among the highest-grossing horror movies ever made.
