Mads Siljehaug and Matheus Leist have claimed pole positions for Rounds 1 and 2 of the Pirelli GT4 America season at Sonoma Raceway, following a closely fought qualifying session for Race 1.
Siljehaug took his No. 71 Marco Polo Motorsports Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 to a fast lap of 1:42.038 in Q1 to edge out fellow Toyota driver Gresham Wagner by just 0.027 seconds.
Alex Ellis, in the No. 77 VPX Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, was just 0.001 second further behind in third, with Kevin Boehm qualifying fourth in his No. 97 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4 EVO.
Pro-Am class honors for Race 1 went to Matt Million in the No. 53 Auto Technic Racing BMW, which qualified fifth overall.
Allen Patten, meanwhile, picked up the Am class pole in his Thunder Bunny Racing Toyota, which qualified 11th overall in the 29-car field.
Q2 saw Friday pace-setter Leist claim pole with the fastest lap of the two sessions, thanks to a 1:40.896 lap time in the Pro-Am class No. 23 Nolasport Porsche.
The Brazilian’s time was 0.190 seconds clear of Silver class pole-sitter Tyler Gonzalez in the No. 68 RAFA Race Team Toyota in second.
Parker Thompson, in his No. 69 JTR Motorsports Engineering Toyota, will line up third overall for Race 2, ahead of Random Vandals’ Kenton Koch and teammate Josh Green, who completed the top-five.
The No. 188 Fast Track Racing BMW of Dave Ogburn, meanwhile, scooped up Am class pole honors for Sunday’s race.
The first race of the GT4 America season takes the green flag at this evening at 5 p.m. PST, with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube and Twitch channels as well as on MAVTV.
