Unless they can turn things around in La Liga over the next few weeks, this will end up being a season without silverware for Real Madrid. Out of the Champions League and the Copa del Rey, Carlo Ancelotti’s side trail Barcelona by four points in the league. Can Madrid somehow complete what would be a remarkable turnaround? Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo predictions Real Madrid were beaten by Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final last weekend. The Blancos did not cover themselves in glory – in more ways than one. It was a breathless, thrilling match. Barcelona went 1-0 up shortly before the half-hour mark, but Madrid scored two quick-fire goals in the second period to go ahead.  An effort from Ferran Torres in the 84th minute made it 2-2 and forced extra time, in which Jules Kounde notched the all-important fifth goal to send the trophy to Catalonia.  It should have been a fantastic advert for Spanish football. Instead, the post-match headlines were dominated by Madrid’s shameful antics. No fewer than three of their players were sent off at the end of the game, with Antonio Rudiger, Jude Bellingham and Lucas Vazquez all seeing red. Rudiger has been slapped with a six-game ban for throwing an ice block at the referee, although Bellingham’s red card has been rescinded. Vazquez will miss two matches through suspension. Madrid completely lost their heads, angered as they were by refereeing decisions which they felt went against them. Ancelotti’s unwillingness to restrain his players did not reflect well on the experienced manager, who looks set to leave Madrid for Brazil in the summer. After such a meltdown, it is hard to see how the Blancos will be able to push Barcelona all the way in the title race. The two are due to meet next weekend in what is a must-win match for Ancelotti’s team. There is another round of fixtures before that. Barcelona face Real Valladolid on Saturday; a win there would see them expand their advantage over Madrid to seven points. The champions would therefore need to respond with a victory of their own against Celta Vigo. At this stage of the season, it is ideal to face opponents with nothing to play for. Unfortunately for Madrid, that description is not applicable to Celta. Claudio Giraldez’s side sit seventh in the standings going into the weekend. If they were to finish there, they would qualify for the Europa League.  Dropping one place would send Celta into the Conference League, but their lead over ninth – which means no Europe – is a slender two points. Vinicius Junior to score any time

Kylian Mbappe was not fit to start the Copa del Rey final, but he made an impact off the bench.

The France international should be cleared to lead the line on Sunday, meaning Vinicius Junior will switch back to the left flank.

Real Madrid need more from him. Vinicius has only scored four goals in his last 22 appearances in all competitions.

Mbappe’s arrival last summer meant Vinicius’ numbers were always likely to dip, but he will be disappointed with a return of 11 strikes in La Liga up to now.

Madrid will hope Vinicius can move on to 12 for the campaign against Celta Vigo.
