Tyler Gonzalez and Gresham Wagner combined to claim victory in the second annual Lone Star Enduro for Pirelli GT4 America at Circuit of The Americas.
Gonzalez took the Silver class No. 68 RAFA Racing Team Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 to a 4.038-second win over the Pro-Am class winning No. 82 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT4 of Tyler McQuarrie and James Walker Jr.
It came after a late-race full course caution for the No. 28 Fast Track Racing BMW of Nate Cicero, which stopped on track and set up a frantic 12-minute shootout to the finish.
Up front, it marked the first overall series victory for the Kevin Conway-led team, now under the RAFA banner after previously running as Smooge Racing in previous seasons.
The No. 52 Auto Technic Racing BMW of Colin Garrett and Zac Anderson appeared to be en route to a runner-up finish prior to the yellow but was given a drive-through penalty for incident responsibility after spinning the No. 3 JMF Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT4 EVO of Jesse Webb with eight minutes to go.
Thomas Merrill drove the No. 15 Archangel Motorsports Aston Martin to third overall and second in Pro-Am, ahead of the No. 33 Blackdog Racing McLaren Artura GT4 of Michael Cooper following a late comeback drive after two pit lane penalties.
Parker Thompson edged out Riley Dickinson at the line for fifth overall, fourth in Pro-Am, in the pole-sitting No. 69 JTR Motorsports Engineering Toyota, meanwhile.
David Michael Ortmann and Braydon Arthur finished second in the Silver class with a seventh place overall result in their No. 4 JMF Aston Martin, ahead of Hannah Grisham and Hannah Greenemeier in the No. 26 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin, which was third in Silver.
BimmerWorld claimed a double class win on Saturday evening with its Am class entry of Charlie Postins and James Clay, who returned to victory lane for the first time this season.
The longtime driver pairing came home 11th overall.
It was a challenging run for Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm, whose race was impacted by multiple penalties, including a drive-through for hitting pit equipment and another for exceeding the 50-minute maximum stint time.
The duo entered the lead as the Silver class championship leaders and finished fifth in class, just one position ahead of title rivals Garrett and Anderson.
All three Random Vandals BMWs were the first to make scheduled stops while under the race’s second yellow for a heavy accident by Alex Voegel’s No. 43 P1 Groupe McLaren in the Esses.
The race’s first yellow came out on the opening lap for debris from a punctured tire for the No. 07 Skip Barber Racing Aston Martin of Michael Garcia.
