Blue Moon
Sony Pictures has set an October 17th limited and October 24th wide release date for Richard Linklater’s “Blue Moon” starring Ethan Hawke, Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale, and Andrew Scott. Robert Kaplow penned the script.

The film profiles the final days of Lorenz Hart, part of the hit songwriting team Rodgers & Hart. The film is set on the opening night of “Oklahoma!,” Rodgers first collaboration with Hart’s replacement Oscar Hammerstein. [Source: Sony Pictures]

City on Fire
Matt Ross (“Captain Fantastic”) has been set to direct the Austin Butler-led film adaptation of Don Winslow’s best-selling crime novel “City On Fire” at Sony Pictures. Butler will produce alongside David Heyman and Shane Salerno, while Justin Kuritzkes (“Challengers”) adapts the script.

The story reimagines Homer’s “The Iliad” in the modern day and focuses on two criminal empires – one Irish, the other Italian – that engage in a brutal gang war to control all of New England. Butler plays a street soldier forced to grow into a ruthlessly efficient leader to protect his friends and family. [Source: Deadline]

Madonna
Netflix is in early development of a limited series about music icon Madonna. The singer along with filmmaker Shawn Levy are teaming for the project which is unrelated to the Madonna biopic at Universal which was scrapped back in early 2023. [Source: Variety]

Captain America: Brave New World
Marvel and Disney have announced that February’s theatrical release, “Captain America: Brave New World,” is ready to hit the Disney+ service on May 28th. The announcement comes as the title arrived on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD today. [Source: Disney]

Superman
Ahead of the official trailer’s arrival tomorrow, Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new one-sheet for James Gunn’s Superman – this one has David Corenswet’s Kal-El front and center on the poster. The movie itself opens July 11th.
