Pfaff Motorsports is set to run a special edition Motul-themed livery at this weekend’s Monterey SportsCar Championship round at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
The Canadian outfit’s No. 9 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 will don a one-off red and white livery, which was selected by fans in a social media poll in early April, with the winning C17Auto Armour-designed color scheme revealed publicly this morning.
The special livery sees the team’s GTD Pro Lamborghini wrapped in white with red stripes, paying homage to historic Motul-lubricated race cars like Prodrive’s 1990 BMW E30-generation M3 for Group A rally racing and the iconic BMW M1 Procar, which competed in Motul colors at the Tour De Corse rally in the early 1980s.
Pfaff, however, retains its well-known plaid pattern on the top side of the rear wing of its Huracan GT3 EVO2, which will be shared by Marco Mapelli and Andrea Caldarelli in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s first two-hour and 40-minute race of the season.
The Steve Bortolotti-led team ran a special edition Motul and vintage McLaren Formula 1-style livery at Laguna Seca last year to commemorate the passing of Ayrton Senna and the team’s partnership with the California-based lubricants company.
Pfaff ran three total special liveries in 2024 and Sportscar365 understands the team is exploring the possibility of running additional one-off paint schemes at selected rounds later in the season.
In total, ten GTD Pro cars are set to tackle the WeatherTech Championship’s first natural terrain road course of the season, with the class returning to the grid for the first time since the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March.
