The Florida Panthers will continue without their captain for a little longer.
Centre Aleksander Barkov is out day-to-day and will miss Saturday’s game against the Ottawa Senators and Sunday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings with an upper-body injury, head coach Paul Maurice said Friday.
The Florida captain briefly left the Panthers’ 3-2 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, but returned to the lineup later in the game. However, he was ruled out a day later for a contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It is unclear what caused the injury.
The 29-year-old has 19 goals and 67 points in 64 games this season.
Barkov isn’t the only star out of the Panthers’ lineup, as both Matthew Tkachuk and Aaron Ekblad will also miss Saturday’s clash against the Senators.
