The Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix at Barber Motorsports Park will feature a rare promotional connection between an IndyCar Series engine partner and an IndyCar team on the No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda driven by defending and three-time champion Alex Palou.
In a one-off arrangement between CGR and Honda Racing Corporation, makers of the 2.2-liter twin-turbo V6 engines used by Palou and other Honda-powered teams, Palou will carry HRC branding and its red, white, and blue colors at Barber.
It’s the same livery used last November in Las Vegas when HRC brought its Formula 1 drivers, IMSA drivers, and IndyCar drivers together in a crossover event during which Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda sampled a Ganassi car carrying HRC’s design.
Akin to what Chevrolet has done with its production car-based Performance Parts sales program, HRC entered the same space in 2024 by developing HRC-themed components for Honda owners to outfit their road cars. The alliance with CGR and Palou at Barber marks a major effort to raise
awareness for HRC’s offerings that go beyond its hardcore racing programs.
“We are excited to be the primary partner on the No. 10 CGR Honda at Barber Motorsports Park,” said HRC president David Salters. “We’ve had a very successful long-term partnership with Chip Ganassi Racing and both of us have seen a lot of success from that collaboration. Alex Palou has done an incredible job the last few years and to kick off this 2025 season and coming on board the No. 10 car seemed liked a great opportunity for visibility around the HRC brand and our new performance parts business.”
CGR’s first use of Honda power in IndyCar came in 1996, the same year that Jimmy Vasser delivered the team and the brand its first Drivers’ championship. Although the team has not been exclusive to Honda since 1996, they’ve won 14 IndyCar title and four Indianapolis 500s together, with the most recent coming in 2022 with Marcus Ericsson.
“Over the years, we have had many successes working with Honda, winning multiple championships and Indianapolis 500s,” Ganassi said. “We are looking forward to partnering with them at Barber on the No. 10, and hope Alex and the team will continue their successful start to the year.”
