Netflix's 'Little House on the Prairie' Reboot Needs To Fix the Original Show's Mistakes With This Character
Harriet Oleson, played by Katherine MacGregor in Little House on the Prairie, needs to have a better arc in Netflix's reboot.
With the news that Little House on the Prairie is receiving the Netflix reboot treatment, the adventures of Laura Ingalls Wilder will be brought to life on the screen for the first time in decades. Of course, those of us who loved the original Little House series (which ran for nine seasons between 1974 and 1983) are likely a bit conflicted about the news. The O.G. Little House is a classic, one that is filled with timeless stories of love, tragedy, hope, and old-fashioned family values. It would be impossible to perfectly replicate what made the program so great, and perhaps Netflix shouldn't bother to try. Instead, the streamer ought to stick a bit closer to Wilder's original semi-autobiographical novels. In doing so, the Netflix series may need to rework some of the iconic characters who existed on the NBC series, and none deserves a facelift more than Harriet Oleson.
