Must-Have Cycling Accessories for Indian Riders

Okay, let’s be real. If you’ve got a cycle and you're riding more than just once a week, there’s some stuff you really need to have. Not because someone online said so, but because it just makes life easier and safer. This post isn’t about fancy gadgets or racing-level upgrades. Just basic, everyday cycling accessories that work well - especially on Indian roads.

We’ve put this together based on what we use ourselves. No fluff. Only the kind of gear that helps when you're dodging potholes, stuck in traffic, or trying not to sweat through your shirt on a 6 AM ride.

Let’s jump into the stuff that actually matters.

Helmet – Don’t Think Twice

Bicycle Helmet is something people ignore until something goes wrong. And by then, well  It's too late.

We’re not saying wear a space helmet, just something that fits well and can protect your head if you fall. Even if you're just going to a chai tapri or office nearby. Doesn’t matter. Indian traffic is wild. Cows, kids, auto-walas — all on the same road.

Things to look for in a cycle helmet:

  • It should sit snug (not wobbly)
  • Should have some air holes – trust us, your head will thank you
  • No need to spend a fortune, just get a decent one that’s tested

We got a few solid helmets on Cyclocraze that are comfortable and won’t make you look like a mushroom.

Cycle Chain – Not Glamorous, But Important

Nobody thinks about the Cycle chain until it starts slipping or making weird noises. If your chain is rusty or feels tight in some spots and loose in others - it’s time.

A clean, well-fitted chain = smoother ride = less leg effort. Especially when you're trying to climb a flyover.

We sell chains that actually last, not the kind that snap after one monsoon. Keep one spare, you’ll thank yourself later.

Pedals – Because Slipping Mid-Ride Sucks

You ever ride in the rain and your foot just flies off the pedal? Not fun.

Good cycle pedals are underrated. Ours come with grip so your foot stays put, even if your shoes are a bit wet or muddy. Also, they don't feel like bricks under your foot. Simple, functional, and durable — exactly how pedals should be.

Plus, we have cycling shoes too if you’re getting serious. Not compulsory, but definitely more comfy once you try them.

Water Bottle & Holder – Self-Explanatory, Right?

You’re sweating buckets in the sun, and now you gotta stop, open your bag, pull out a bottle? Nah.

Install a bottle holder, keep water handy, and ride in peace. This one’s honestly a no-brainer. All our holders fit well, don’t shake too much, and bottles don’t pop out if you hit a bump.

Our bottles are leak-proof and BPA-free and all that jazz. But mainly — they just work.

Seats – No More Butt Pain

Let’s not sugarcoat this. If your seat is hard or the wrong shape, it ruins the whole ride. You keep adjusting your position every 10 minutes, and after a few kms, it’s just uncomfortable.

Our cycle seats have extra padding and fit most bikes. They’re not too soft either which can be worse sometimes. If you do long rides, investing in a better seat is honestly worth it.

Your back and your bum will feel the difference.

Derailleurs, Cranks & Shifters – For the Slightly Nerdy But Necessary

Look, if you’re doing longer rides or your bike has gears, this stuff matters. Bad shifters or misaligned derailleurs make you hate gear changes. You pedal harder and go slower — not fun.

  • Derailleurs keep your gear changes smooth
  • Cranks & chainrings handle the power from your legs
  • Shifters & levers give you control without needing bodybuilder fingers

We’ve got all of these on Cyclocraze. And yes, they work with Indian dust, monsoons, and the occasional bumpy ride through your colony.

Power Meter – For the Data-Lovers

This isn’t a basic essential, but if you’re into numbers and training seriously, then yeah, a power meter is cool to have. It tracks how much effort you’re putting in, so you know when you're actually improving vs just feeling tired.

Ours are pretty solid  not too fancy or complicated, but accurate.

Hubs, Brake Calipers & Group Sets – The Backend Heroes

If your wheel wobbles or brakes feel too soft, chances are your hubs or calipers need love. A well-maintained group set just makes everything tighter, quieter, and better overall.

We stock this stuff too. Not saying replace everything at once, but if something’s feeling off, it's good to know you’ve got quality parts easily available online.

Why Cyclocraze?

We’re not a massive corporation. Just folks who actually ride and got tired of cheap parts that break in 2 months or overpriced stuff that doesn’t make sense here.

So we started Cyclocraze — a simple store that sells good cycling accessories that actually work on Indian roads.

What you’ll get with us:

  • Products that we’d use ourselves
  • Fast support (we actually reply to emails and DMs)
