Moskowitz hits Trump with 'The White Lotus' meme over Putin plea

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) mocked President Trump’s Thursday Truth Social post with a meme from HBO’s “The White Lotus” of actress Parker Posey.

On the show, Posey plays Victoria Ratliff, a character known for her slow-drawling Southern accent.

Moskowitz’s post plays on Posey's now-iconic character accent by posting an image of Posey with the words “Vladimir, nooooo” plastered on the image in response to Trump's post, parodying the president's plea for his Russian counterpart to stop bombing Ukraine. 

Earlier in the day, Trump wrote a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin on his social platform.

“I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE,” Trump wrote in a morning post.

It’s unclear if the Republican phoned any officials or attempted to contact Putin in a more formal manner.

However, when asked by reporters if he thinks Putin would halt the strikes on Kyiv, the president said, “I do, yeah.”

Moskowitz’s joke about the online exchange comes just a week after "Saturday Night Live" reimagined the first family as characters on the HBO hit vacation series. It also comes after months of the Trump administration’s failed attempts to secure a ceasefire in Eastern Europe.
