Mercedes-AMG has rolled out a number of updates to its GT4 platform, extending the homologation of the car until 2029.

The Mercedes-AMG GT4 has been available since 2018 and currently competes in numerous championships across the globe, including the likes of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, Pirelli GT4 America, GT4 European Series powered by RAFA Racing Club and others.

On Wednesday, Mercedes-AMG revealed that it has obtained new homologation from SRO Motorsports Group and the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium (RACB), with the latter responsible for all GT4 homologations.

The new homologation comes into effect immediately and will remain valid until 2029, by which point the car will have been eligible for GT4 competition for over a decade.

The Stuttgart marque has stated that it has opted for ‘minimal’ modifications to the car.

It has developed the engine application with a view on improving drivability, while the front splitter and rear wing have received an update to incorporate the mandatory use of natural fibre reinforced plastic components. New rain lights have also been installed.

An addition area of focus has been the shock absorbers on the rear axle, which have been revised. Customers will be able to acquire the updates through a re-homologation kit, which is available for purchase at €7,990 ($9,115 USD).

GetSpeed Set to Receive Mercedes-AMG’s 300th Example of Current GT3 Car

In addition to revealing its new GT4 updates, Mercedes-AMG has stated that customer squad GetSpeed Performance is set to take delivery of the 300th example of its currently active GT3 platform.

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 debuted in 2016, received an Evo update in 2020 and has since gone on to enjoy success in nearly every major endurance classic and championship worldwide.

The car’s list of accolades includes victories in the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, Nürburgring 24, Rolex 24 at Daytona, Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, Motul Petit Le Mans and Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour.

Meanwhile, the car has also taken championship titles in GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, the Intercontinental GT Challenge, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and recently debuted in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The current car is set to be replaced in Mercedes-AMG’s customer racing portfolio with an as yet unnamed new car, which is set to undergo initial rollout tests this summer ahead of a prospective customer rollout in 2027.
