McKinley Dixon announces new LP ft. Quelle Chris, Anjimile, Pink Siifu, ICECOLDBISHOP & more

Chicago-via-Richmond rapper McKinley Dixon has announced a new album, Magic, Alive!, due June 6 via City Slang (pre-order). The album features a handful of contributors, including guest vocalists Quelle Chris, Anjimile, Pink Siifu, ICECOLDBISHOP, Blu, Shamir, Ghais Guevara (whose great new album also features McKinley), and more; production from Sam Yamaha and Sam Koff; and instrumentation from trombonist Reggie Pace, harpist Eli Owens, guitarists Sarah Tuzdin (illuminati hotties) and El Kempner (Palehound), the aforementioned Sam Koff on trumpet, a string section, and more.

The first single is “Sugar Water,” which features Quelle Chris and Anjimile on vocals and Sarah Tuzdin on guitar, and it’s a stirring concoction of live-band boom bap, gospel-soul harmonies, soaring jazz trumpets, and more. McKinley says, “‘Sugar Water’ is a discussion on how to make fleeting moments last forever, and how to carry those not here with you through time and space. It raises the question ‘what’s the price to pay for an eternal life lived through others memories?'” It’s a great first taste, and you can check it out below.
