Blake McDonald topped the opening GT America powered by AWS practice session of the SRO America weekend at Sebring International Raceway.

The DXDT Racing driver jumped to the top of the times in the first half of the 30-minute practice session, but continued improving, laying down a 2:01.909 lap time in his No. 11 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R on his 11th revolution of the 3.741-mile Florida circuit.

Just behind was the No. 56 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II of Memo Gidley, 0.498 seconds off the SRO3 class pace setter. Third quickest was Kyle Washington’s No. 32 Porsche 911 GT3 R, with the GMG Racing driver setting his quick lap on his final attempt.

Mirco Shultis was fourth overall in his fan-favorite Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R ahead of Ross Choest, who rounded out the top five in his C8-generation Z06 GT3.R.

Anthony McIntosh set the pace amongst the trio of GT4 class cars on this weekend’s entry list aboard his No. 69 JTR Motorsports Engineering Toyota Supra GT4 EVO2.

McIntosh’s 2:14.216 benchmark came early on in the session and saw the JTR driver as the only GT4 competitor to set a representative time in the first portion of the half-hour session, with McIntosh only recording three total laps on his way to the top of the class times.

Justin Rothberg failed to turn any laps in his SRO3 class No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO

Practice 2 is slated for Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. EST and will be the only GTA session of the day ahead of qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday.
