Mass Appeal releasing 7 new albums from Nas, Raekwon, Mobb Deep, De La Soul & more

Mass Appeal will release seven new albums from seven different hip hop icons for its Legend Has It… series. The featured artists include Nas and DJ Premier, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, Raekwon the Chef, Big L, De La Soul, and “the epic return of a surprise guest of honor” that’s still to be announced. All are due to arrive by the end of the year, though they haven’t revealed release details yet.

A press release about Legend Has It… reads:

Legend Has It… is dedicated to celebrating and spotlighting some of the most important and influential Hip Hop artists of all time; trailblazers who’ve been instrumental in building and shaping the music and culture, and have taken it from the streets of New York City to the wider world, leaving an indelible mark on music.

This unparalleled series of Legend Has It… releases features rap icon and Mass Appeal Records co-founder Nas and super-producer DJ Premier’s reprisal of their groundbreaking partnership; Ghostface Killah’s long-rumoured Supreme Clientele 2 sequel to his 2000 classic; and a fresh offering, Emperor’s New Clothes, from fellow Wu-Tang Clan lynchpin Raekwon The Chef.

In addition, the series will show how, through their music, legends can live forever. Legend Has It… will honor the memory of Prodigy and Trugoy The Dove with the first Mobb Deep and De La Soul albums since each band member’s tragic passing, plus a posthumous release from Harlem’s finest, Big L.

Nas and DJ Premiere announced their collaborative album last year as Illmatic turned 30, and they also shared a new track for the occasion, “Define My Name.” We haven’t heard anything else about the album since then, but hopefully we will soon.
