Lovecraftian RPG ‘The Horror at Highrook’ Launches May 1 [Trailer]

Nullpointer Games has announced that they will be bringing their Lovecraftian card-crafting RPG The Horror at Highrook to Steam on May 1. The announcement was accompanied by a brand-new trailer. And in case you missed it, the demo that was released earlier this year is still available for you to check out.

Co-funded by Outersloth, The Horror at Highrook is inspired by the likes of HP Lovecraft (naturally), Edgar Allen Poe and Bram Stoker. The card-crafting RPG sees players lead a team of occult investigators – Vitali: The Scholar, Astor: The Mecanist, Atticus: The Hireling and Caligar: The Plague Doctor – into the dark, yawning maw of the Ackeron estate in search of the noble family, who following rumours of dark pacts and shadowy rituals, have now vanished without a trace.

As you explore the grounds of the manor, you’ll encounter otherworldly entities, requiring you to craft tools, potions and occult rites using the game’s “deep, nonlinear crafting system.” Each character in The Horror at Highrook features their own skills and perspectives for you to use in your quest. In addition to keeping your team safe from Hunger and Injury, seeing as this is a Lovecraftian game, you’ll also need to stave off Madness in the game’s tabletop-inspired gameplay, featuring tactile card-driven mechanics.
